Tool Making for Jewelry
Steel stamping, chasing & repoussé work are gaining popularity, but sometimes you need that one special tool you cannot get and/ or need right away. Join us and learn how to make custom steel stamps, punches, and chasing tools on demand! Find out about different types of steel, and how to determine the best use for each one. Working with both round and rectangular high carbon steel; you will sculpt, polish and heat-treat four tools. Heat treating, tempering, and other methods will also be demonstrated; as well as some special tricks to ensure high quality working tools that are functional and will last for years to come. This class is limited to eight students. Tools will be available for use. Extra steel blanks will be available for purchase from the instructor.

All levels welcome; comfort with sawing, filing, and a torch is helpful, but not required. (Ages 16 and up).
Class Fee: $130
Materials fee: $25 payable to the instructor
