Find out how easy it is to add the rich and dramatic luster of gold to your silver fabrications with very little expense. In the ancient Korean technique of Keum-Boo (meaning “attached gold”) pure gold foil is fused to the surface of a finished silver object with heat and pressure. Students will make a pair of textured silver earrings and a puffed pendant bead, and learn to apply 24K gold foil to them. This workshop will also cover surface texture exploration, soldering, depletion guilding and patina. Students may also bring finished silver or Silver Metal Clay pieces to class for applying the Keum-boo process (mostly flat surfaces, no hollow forms, stones un-set). This class is limited to eight students. Tools will be available for use; Magnifiers must be supplied by the student.
